Carping4Heroes is an event that uses carp angling as a means to fundraise for Help for Heroes, Combat Stress and angling project Forces CARP. It was the idea of ex soldier and keen carp angler Simon Bangert who had a vision to use the sport to raise money for a charity which supports and helps our wounded soldiers, including himself and friends he has served with. Simon felt that carp angling was the ideal platform to give something back and in early 2011 Carping4Heroes was born, to date the event has raised almost £30,000.
The event has been supported superbly from the tackle trade (look at our sponsors page) and has also been attended by personalities such as Julian Cundiff, Brian Skoyles, Mark Pitchers, Mark Hogg, Ian Chillcott, Adam Penning, Joe Turnbull, Beverley Clifford, Jemima Musson and Pete Castle and has been supported well by the angling media with Carp-Talk and Carpworld now the events associate sponsors along with DNA Baits, Nash Tackle and Atomic Tackle.
The event now runs over a full weekend where various activities are organised for everyone to enjoy and also includes a 24 hour carp angling match with teams entered by the Army, RAF, Royal Navy, Royal Marines and a Civilian team who compete for the 4 trophies that are on offer.
Although the event centers around angling, people are encouraged to come along and take part in the other activities that are on offer and show their support for our brave men and women.
